Wallball tournament at hosted at Chapin

With brand new murals being painted on the walls of the wallball courts comes a wallball tournament that will bring students from Jefferson, Bowie, and Irvin to chapin to compete.

Every day students at chapin gather during lunch to play wallball, but the sport doesn’t get alot of recognition. The assistant principle who organized the tournament, Mr. Carlos, claims he is trying to clean up that area and believes that the tournament will help him do that.

“Alot of the kids out there are good kids. I think like anywhere else in chapin we’re gonna have some referrals, some talking back, so I’m trying my best more than anything to turn that area into something positive.” Assistant Principal Mr. Carlos said.

Although a lot of the students who joined were mostly upperclassmen some freshman still decided to try their luck and test their skills.

“I joined to have fun and test my skills against skilled players because many of the players that joined are upperclassmen so I’m not expecting to win,” Freshman competitor Alan Garcia said.

“I mostly just want to try to improve my wallball skills” Freshman Erick Martinez said.
