Likes

Are they really worth it?

Recently one of the biggest inconveniences on the social media platform, Instagram, is that it got rid of its likes. The intentions isn’t seen as understandable to social media users, but it’s also obvious that they’re trying to get users to stop focusing on the numbers. They don’t want others to let their sense of expression be influenced by how many likes they rather get than what they want to put out on the internet.

Additionally, cyber bullying is a big issue on the app just as it is on every other media. Others can be cruel if they see people don’t have enough likes or if their post is unnecessary and they don’t want to see it. Social media is a place where people would like to express themselves, but tend to receive hate. Preventing people from feeling bad about themselves is a reason likes should have got taken off.

The real issue tends to be the comments. Everyone points out the fact that usually there is always negativity being thrown around in the comment section. As such a big app Instagram tends to be their focus should have been on the comments as well because that’s where people get rude more than anywhere else.

If anything, likes help others make them feel good about themselves even though it can lead to negative actions. As social media grows as our generation continues, they are doing everything they can to make sure that it’s always a safe environment for both older and younger users. The comment section is intended to be used for positive feedback and although people may use it for negative reasons, it doesn’t define the purpose of the app. The easiest thing to do is to block negative comments from even being posted. Every comment should have a careful examination before it is posted on someones account to prevent any harm from being done.
