Originally scheduled to be handed out earlier this month, the IDs are now expected to arrive later, according to school staff. The delay has caused confusion among students and staff alike, especially for those needing IDs for lunch, library access, and campus events.
“I haven’t received my ID yet, and it’s been difficult to get through the lunch line quickly,” said sophomore Jordan Smith. “It feels like everyone is waiting on the same thing, and it slows everything down.”
School administrators explained that production issues and supply delays contributed to the holdup. “We understand that having an ID is important for students’ daily routines, and we are working to get them out as quickly as possible,” said Assistant Principal Maria Lopez.
Some teachers and staff have noted challenges in managing students without IDs. “We’ve had to verify students in other ways, which takes extra time during class transitions,” said science teacher Mr. Thomas Nguyen.
Students have suggested temporary solutions, such as temporary ID cards or a digital verification system, until the official IDs arrive. Senior Emily Carter said, “It would help if we had something to show while we wait. Not having an ID shouldn’t affect our access to school resources.”
The school encourages students to check their email for updates on the ID distribution schedule and to report any issues to the main office.
