Four simple directions, left, right, up, and down, sliding numbers on 16 tiles start off easy, but as the number gets higher and higher, closer and closer to 2048 things get more and more difficult. For the beginner, or those stuck, are a few tips:

1. Always keep your highest number in a corner and avoid moving it around.
2. Don’t panic, there is NO time limit on your moves, it’s not about speed but planning.
3. Don’t be afraid to move some of the pieces on the row you place your highest tile on if there is no other option, eventually, those pieces will be added to another clearing up more tiles for your next moves.
4. Never underestimate the value of a 2 or 4, they can appear and ruin your game, but also can save the place of another tile for adding a few tiles.
