Indoor Track

Indoor Track at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

Indoor track is exactly like outdoor track except it is all brought inside. The length on indoor tracks may vary due to space. As well some indoor tracks may have banked turns depending on the length.

“We competed in an Indoor Track meet in Lubbock and Albuquerque and both of the tracks were 200 meters long and both of the curves were lifted, “said junior Samadhi Foster

The environment of an indoor track meet is much different from an outdoor meet.

“The crowd is much louder indoor because you can hear everyone’s cheering,” said junior Trinity Avrilien “The energy is crazy and just gets me more pumped to run”

The outdoor season is taken much more seriously than indoor

“Outdoor track is much more important than indoor,” said sophomore Biviana Garica “It is more competitive plus we compete for district titles, and we can even advance to state depending on our times.”

The Indoor Track season lasts anywhere from December to March before the outdoor season begins.

“We take advantage of the indoor season,” said Coach Traux, “We only run a couple of meets to see where our runners are at, as well it gives us a chance to see what we need to work on so that we are ready to go during outdoor track”
