Track Season is Around the Corner
Track Season is right around the corner. Last year the Track team won the 1-5A District Champions, Girls got 1st place at Area, and had a total of 5 athletes advanced to State Championships in Austin, Texas.
“We had a very successful season last year and I know that our athletes have the capably to be successful once again,” head track coach Michael Truax said.
The first track practice is on January 4. Some athletes have already been practicing during the off-season for a couple of months to prepare for the season.
“I enjoy the practices during the off- season because I know that it is making me better and is preparing me to do my best at the track meets,” junior Samadhi Foster said.
Dark and cold practices are to be expected throughout the rest of the year.
“Last year I remember the practices being super cold and dark because we would stay working for a good amount of time,” junior Isabella Villalobos said. “I am sure it will be the same this year because I know our practices will be long because we are going to be getting in some hard work.”
In the spring there will be lots of new faces to the track team and many new athletes were excited to participate.
“I cannot wait for track,” freshmen Brent Hallman said. “It will be my first year doing track for school and I am excited to make new friends and see what I am capable of doing.”
