Boys soccer kicks off with preseason game

Starting off. The captains of both teams go to half to meet the ref. They flipped a coin to see who would get ball first and who picked field.

Let the game begin. The gets the ball and make a run towards the goal. Senior Samuel Dos Santos made a run with the ball moving it towards cathedral’s goal.

Run. They dribbles the ball towards Cathedral’s goal trying to get a point. He beats pressure from the left to get off a shot.

Pass it. Senior Alan Mascorro tries to beat the pressure and get the ball to a teammate. He sent a pass in front to the goal trying to get the score.

Get it out. Goalie Hector Valdiviezo clears the ball for the defense. He passed the ball to one of his outside backs to clear it from the goalie box.

I’m open. Senior Daniel Arellano goes wide to get open for a pass. His teammate settled to ball as Daniel got open for a pass.

We’re ready. Players wait for their opportunity to go in. They were sitting there talking to each other about what happened throughout out the game. “I enjoyed my time playing, and hopefully the team will go far this year,” Logan Zimmer said.

Use your head. Senior Luis Mendez jumps up to get to the ball first. He worked smarter and used his head to get the ball first while the Cathedral player just stood there.

Go to goal. The team gets to the ball thats in front of Cathedral’s goal. He got it under control while pressure came to try and steal the ball.

Get open. Senior Alan Mascorro picks up the ball to throw it in. He waited for a teammate to get open and away from pressure to throw the ball. “It was pretty fun we had some good possession and good touches,” Alan said.

Thats game. Ending with a victory for the team, they beat Cathedral 3-1 and got their first win of the pre-season.”The game was really fun, and I thought our team was so dominate and so strong,” sophomore Omar Escobedo said.
