Friday nights feature more than football. The ROTC Power Squad attends games to motivate the team and engage the crowd.
“Power Squad, I would say, is a very fun way to go to football games and support the team with a group of friends,” Joe Vasquez, senior said.
The squad also provides a social experience for students. Members can make friends and take part in school events while attending games.
“It’s really fun for me. You get to make friends, have fun, and spend time with people,” Marcus Valentine, sophomore said. “Plus, you get to go to the football games for free!” Valentine said.
The ROTC Power Squad follows traditions to keep energy high at games. After each touchdown, members perform push-ups and a dance routine to cheer on the football team.
“Every touchdown, I or other people would line up and do push-ups. It helps with making a lot of friends and is a cheer group for JROTC,” Valentine said. “We go to football games to motivate our team, cheer them on, and show our school pride,” Esperanza Ashton, sophomore said.
