Across the district, school spirit helps create excitement and unity among students. However, many students believe that Andress High School shows stronger school pride through frequent pep rallies, spirit weeks, and school wide events this school year.
“Andress always seems more energetic because they actually give students chances to show their pride” said junior Luis Hernandez.
In comparison, students at this school feel that opportunities to participate in school spirit activities are limited. While Andress regularly hosts events that bring students together, students say this campus could benefit from hosting more pep rallies and organized activities throughout the year.
“I see Andress having pep rallies and spirit days all the time which makes me wish we had more events like that here.”, said sophomore Jordan Ramirez.
Additionally, students believe that increasing school spirit events could improve spirit and create a stronger sense of belonging. School wide activities give students something to look forward to and encourage them to connect with one another.
“We don’t really have many chances to show school spirit; more events would make school more fun and bring everyone together.”, said junior Teijo Adiniwin.
Finally, some students feel that stronger school spirit could lead to better attendance and support at games and activities. When students feel excited about their school, they are more likely to participate and show up.
“If we had more pep rallies and school events, more students would actually show up. It would make a big difference.”, said junior Carlos Puente.
