How Chapin Students Are Getting Ready for Halloween
As Halloween gets closer, students at Chapin High are pulling together costumes, planning events and trying to balance the excitement with everything else happening during the fall semester. Even with tests, practices and club meetings stacking up, most students say the holiday is still something they look forward to.
Junior Jesus said he actually started preparing earlier than usual this year. “I’m tired of last-minute costumes,” he said. “Everyone takes pictures, so I wanted to look like I tried for once.” He said he hopes more people dress up during the school day because it “makes everything feel less serious.”
Junior Caleb isn’t putting as much effort into a costume, but he still enjoys the atmosphere leading up to Halloween. “I’ll probably throw something simple together,” he said. “But it’s fun seeing what other people come up with. Chapin has some really creative people.”
Junior Alexa has been busy organizing a group costume with her friends. “It’s harder than it sounds,” she said. “Everyone wants something different, but when we finally pick a theme it’s worth it. It gives you a break from stressing about school.”
Senior Victoria said she’s trying to enjoy what might be her last Halloween on campus. “I’m definitely dressing up,” she said. “I like seeing how the juniors and sophomores go all out. I just want to make the most of it since it’s my last year.”
English teacher Mr. Morgan said he notices the shift in energy every October. “Students are always a little more excited around this time,” he said. “Costumes and decorations bring some fun into the building. As long as everyone stays safe and follows the rules, I think it’s a good thing.”
Even though students have different plans and levels of enthusiasm, Halloween continues to bring a mix of creativity and school spirit to Chapin. Whether they’re planning group outfits, keeping things simple, or just watching the chaos unfold, the day gives campus a much-needed break in the middle of a busy semester.
