Sophomore Wesley Vo got first place in the TSA Promotional event on April 11. The competition is where students make a promotional project and present it, and Wesley’s project ended up qualifying him for nationals in Washington, D.C.
Wesley Vo said he put a lot of time into making sure his project was clear and looked good.
“I just wanted it to be organized and easy to understand, but also stand out,” Vo said. “I kept going back and changing little things until it felt right.”
Cody Logsdon, a TSA advisor, said Wesley worked hard the whole time he was preparing.
“He was really focused and took feedback seriously,” Logsdon said. “That’s what helped him improve his project and get first place.”
Sophomore TSA member Olivia Zimmer said Wesley’s win made a lot of students more motivated.
“It was cool seeing him win because it made it feel more possible for the rest of us,” Zimmer said. “It kind of pushed everyone to try harder.”
The TSA promotional design event is where students create a campaign using visuals and writing to communicate a message. Judges score based on creativity, design, and how well the idea is presented. Wesley’s project stood out enough to get him first place and move on to nationals.
“I’m just trying to make it even better before nationals,” Vo said.
Now he’s getting ready for the national competition in Washington, D.C., where students from all over the country will compete.
