Artificial intelligence, or AI, is increasingly used in schools. Experts say it helps with tasks such as checking spelling, analyzing data, students report that AI makes learning faster and easier. “When I don’t understand something, I can ask it to explain in a way that’s easy to get.” Freshman Ivan Salas said.
“AI makes things go quicker. Sometimes it gives ideas I didn’t think of,” freshman Juan Holguin said.
Spanish teacher Roberto Sifuentes said AI helps students organize assignments.
While geography teacher Olivia Mitchell noted it can guide problem-solving. A report from the National Education Association found that educators nationwide are urging policies to ensure safe and effective use.
AI’s impact extends outside schools.
“AI helps people stay safe,” freshman Jonathan Onogami said.
It can tell students when something is wrong or what needs to be corrected. As AI becomes more common, responsible use is a recurring theme.
“AI is helpful, but you still need to check your work,” Sifuentes said .
While many students have their own opinions on artifiial intelligence, some agree it makes schoolwork easier while some don’t at all.
“Understanding how AI works makes it more useful for school and life,” social studies teacher Olivia Mitchell said.
