A Very Mariachi Christmas
Chapin’s Mariachi had the opportunity to play with Mariachi Sol De Mexico for a Christmas Performance

Singing with the stars, senior Joshua McDougall sings alongside another violinist from Sol de Mexico. “It’s always a fun experience to be able to play alongside another mariachi especially if they are famous.” Joshua said.
Sound Check. Sophomore Joshua Cameron does a sound check along his mariachi members before a quick dress rehearsal. Along side Josh is trumpet player Andree Gomez, a trumpet player who graduated but always come to help tutor Josh.
Waving goodbye, Mariachi Sol de Mexico concluded their concert playing musical tunes alongside Chapin and Austin High school. Their concert consisted of the birth of Jesus Christ, and his death alongside some mariachi classics.
A holiday Cheer. Senior Daniel Morales smiles as he plays in front of hundreds pf people at Mariachi Christmas. The venue was the Plaza Amphitheater in which the spotlight shine down up all of mariachi, student and professional.
Locked in. senior Cielo Irmandadez plays for people entering to watch mariachi Christmas. Their setlist included music like mariachi loco and la negra being played for people before the show.
A final bow before bowing. Mariachi Sol de Mexico alongside Austin and Chapin Mariachi’s put their bows up as they ended they’re performance. The performance marked the conclusion for Sol de Mexico’s show which was other 3 hours.
Singing to the crowd, senior Cielo irmandadiz sings in front of her mother. “Singing is awkward sometimes because I’m scared to mess up but i still try to give it my all even if I make mistakes” said Cielo.
Dashing through the notes, senior Joshua McDougall sings Feliez Navida with Mariachi sol de Mexico and his mariachi. The song was one of the last pieces played that night along with La Negra and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
Nothing but chords. Many of the mariachi students who played at the event were first timers to mariachi Christmas. “Learning new and exciting mariachi music is always a cool thing to do” said Daniel Morales, a guitar player in the Chapin mariachi.
With the spotlight shining down on multiple students, it was almost a guarantee is be focused on the music. ” I was having a hard time seeing because the liht was shining down at me, so i just closed my eyes” said Bettie Rosales, a member of Chapin’s Mariachi
