The Boys wrestling team is getting ready For their upcoming
5a meet tournament At Riverside High school,
The Boys Are excited to show their skills and talents that
Coach Hernandez has taught and disciplined them for.
The names of four boys who will be competing in this tournament
are Sergio Vasquez, Max Rodriguez, Jeremiah Brooke,
and Benjamin Rosas; these four athletes are what it means to be a
husky.
According to junior Max Rodriguez said the team practices very hard as they stay after school until 6 p.m.
“Were drilling were training our moves and we are doing a lot of conditioning too to kinda prepare,” Max said. “I do think wrestling can make a difference in a person’s life because it teaches routine and as long as you keep going to practice there’s no way of not getting better everyday.”
Max started in started wrestling in 8th grade.
“It feels like a little hold that you have in your time and you become really dedicated and you really fall in love with the sport,” Max said. “I want to thank my couch she really taught me the fundamentals of the sport.”
According to sophmore Jeremiah Brooke said the team is very hard working.
“Were getting in there we are working hard, drilling hard, and getting our technique down and we are working hard” Jeremiah said “it depends on what you learn and take from the sport just like everything else but if you were to take something from it it would probably be the discipline and hard work because thats what wrestling is about”
Jeremiah thanks his coaches for who he is today
“I also thank my coaches everyday for making me better as a person and as an athlete.”
According to junior Sergio Vargas the team practices everyday motivating each other to be better.
“The Team is getting prepared by practicing every day pretty hard doing a lot of conditioning and we do a lot of drilling to picture whats going to happen in the matches and pushing each other harder everyday.”
According to Sergio wrestling can be amazing for somebody
“It makes you realize that things aren’t that hard to do it makes you realize that wrestling is probably going to be the hardest thing you’re going to do and it makes other things seem easier you know..?, you procrastinate less.” Sergio said “I would thank my coach 100% he’s helped us with everything especially because we lost a coach so i’m really thankful for my coach.”
According to junior Benjamin Rosas
“Were doing a lot of cardio a lot of training and live matches where you practice live rounds of wrestling and a lot of dieting to make weight for our tournaments.”
Wrestling has improved Benjamins life
“Its helped me build schedules, improve weight loss, building muscle and it could definitely improve someone’s life” Benjamin is very thankful to his coaches “I would definitely thank my coach and my other coach, coach grey who isn’t here, i would dedicate my wins to them.” Benjamin said “we are definitely capable of making it to state.”
According to Coach Hernandez Wrestling makes Individuals better.
“Were working hard going over basics you know..? getting them in shape and trying to get them the endurance they’re going to need for the rest of the season things like that and of course always always always be on top of grades.”
Coach Hernandez Improves his students life with lessons and discipline
“Definitely wrestling can make a difference in my students lives, wrestling is considered to be the most hardest sports and being able to be successful in wrestling pretty much you know sets you up to be able to tackle anything.” Coach Hernandez said “There is no obstacle that cant be overcome, I feel like wrestling prepares all individuals no matter what background to be ready to overcome life’s difficulties.”
