English End of Course Anxiety

The EOC 2 test is a test all sophomore in the state of Texas must take and pass to graduate high school. This test consists of reading questions that determine grade level English academic in all different type of areas.

“This test makes me very nervous because it worries me that I won’t pass it although I’m good at English, “sophomore Alexis Bryant said.

This test consists of up to 40-50 questions, that must be completed within a 4-hour period.

“I believe this is too much time for me and it makes me very impatient to wait for the time to run out and let everyone finish, “sophomore Lizeth Mendoza said.

Although some students think more time I required because they have not completed their exam.

“More time would be better for me because I struggle to stay concentrated and remember what I read, “sophomore Steven Anderson said.

Throughout the year the student’s English 2 teacher prepares students to pass this test.

“Mr. Morgan got me into reading books and being able to analyze stories and answer questions so I think I will do good on the test” sophomore Daniel Arellano said.

Although if you don’t pass the test, you have more attempts to pass the test, even if you pass the class and not the test.

“I hate that I could have straight A’s and not pass the test and still have to retake it, “sophomore Briana Aponte said.

The EOC test has  changed within the past year , in ways as making the test more like a classroom experience. This test will consist of new questions ,cross curricular passages and evidence based Writting.

” it makes me nervous that the test will be like Writting your own answers because what if my opinion is different from what the answer really is,”sophomore Madison Garver said.
