Varsity and Junior Varsity Softball tryouts
Softball tryouts for student athletes’ takes places on Friday 13th. This determines if you make it onto Junior Varsity or Varsity.
“I’m nervous and anxious for the tryouts because there is a lot of girls trying out, “said sophomore Crystal Velarde.
Tryouts take place Friday the 13th for younger girls and Saturday the 14th for older girls. On Sunday you find out if you make the team in the afternoon.
“It makes me more anxious because I have to wait two days to find out if I made the team or not, “said freshman Jaylyn Valdez.
The school provides the jerseys to athletes, but pants and socks must be bought before season even if you aren’t sure, you made the team or not.
“I hope I make the team because then I just spent 110 dollars for nothing, “said freshman Lily Mercado.
All types of emotions were presented thought the season, but tryout day was full of excitement, fear, discipline, and mostly everyone being nervous.
“I was excited when the week of tryouts came but on Friday I was a little overwhelmed and I put too much pressure on myself at tryouts, but at the end it was worth it when I received the news on Sunday, “said freshman Alina Castro.
The JV and Varsity softball team had all of off season to finally show off their skills during season.
“The bonds you form on and off the field is what makes us the players we are and communication between the team is what gets us far,”sophomore Alyssa Velasquez.
