Tucker legacy lives beyond the court

Freshman Dallas Tucker student athlete is stepping into his father Cliff Tucker’s legacy.
Dallas has followed in his dad’s footsteps by playing football and basketball for the school. 

“I attended this school to continue my dad’s legacy, and I play the sports he once did  to honor him,” freshman Dallas Tucker said. 

Dallas Tucker, defensive end for the freshman team. On offense playing receiver , defense  moving from linebacker to defensive end as a player.Dallas tucker jersey number is worn in honor of his father.

“I got No. 6 for my jersey to represent my dad on the field doing something he once enjoyed,” Dallas said. 

“As a player mentally Dallas is someone who is very passionate about anything that he does and you can see it in good plays and in the bad because when something does not go right he wants to fix it,”Coach Franco said.

Cliff Tucker legacy has been important throughout school and for athletic programs. On May 28th, 2018, former Chapin High School and University of Maryland basketball star was tragically killed in a car wreck on I-10. 

“They have hosted Cliff Tucker memorial youth basketball Tournament to keep his name in memory and continue his legacy on the court,” sophomore Matthew Leber said. 

The basketball court honors him in many ways as you walk into the gym. Honoring him with a banner in the gym and on the court a basketball with his initials and jersey number (21). 

“Every time I step foot into that court, I remember that it’s been dedicated to tucker, so I leave all the love I got for the game for him, myself and my teammates,” freshman Keyshaun Lawrance said. 

Anyone who knows or is friends with Dallas know him for his character.

“He is a very respectful and everyone loves him hes not one to be an outcast and he gets the team going,”Coach Franco said

As only a freshman he has already gotten to make his on mark on people at campus.

“Dallas is a really good friend, he always makes sure I’m doing good or anyone is before himself,” sophomore Rico Kennedy said.
