Singing together, junior Akeena Salazar sings not only with the Chapin mariachi but also combined mariachi’s of Austin, Coronado, and Bowie. The event not only brought along mariachi’s but several organizations from EPISD.
All smiles, sophomore Evie Miller plays in front of sponsors at EPISD’s annual meeting. The event took the course of several hours as sponsors took a look at all the programs they fund.
Singing to the crowd sophomore Evie Miller sings along side several musicians. The dress rehearsal for this event was the day of said events and the mariachi’s had to pick what music to play.
Pulling up and down, junior Akeena Salazar plays her violin during dress rehearsal. The rehearsal was mainly a way for the mariachi to get on and off stage, and to find here to play instruments.
Receiving instruction, junior Akeena Salazar and sophomore Evie Miller receive feedback on the entrance of their performance. The feedback was largely due to the table that was blocking the entrance available to them.
Singing along in their dress rooming, the chapin mariachi sings in the dressing room before the show. As a quick warm up they sang popular music along with the other mariachi’s at the event.
The only voice in the room, senior Crystal Alexis sings to the tune of “Hermosa Carino.” “It’s fun to song whenever I get the chance, especially at an event this big” said Alexis.
With a strong bow, junior Andres Ibarra plays infront of sponsors. The table where they played at was owned by the El Paso electric company who sponsors fine arts at EPISD.
Hitting all the right notes, senior Crystal Alexis sings “La Negra” with Austin and Bowie. “Having these songs played by memory is always fun, it’s hard but when you start to get it down they are so fun to play” Alexis said.
Letting it ring, senior Crystal Alexis sings “Amor Eterno” with the help of her fellow mariachi. “I didn’t know it by heart, but it didn’t stop me from trying to sing it”. Alexis said.
