Junior Zoeh Cerecerez was recognized by El Paso’s Prep1USA for her strong volleyball season and for setting the school record for most kills in a single year. In addition, the school’s volleyball program ranked among the top four teams in El Paso this season, making Cerecerez’s accomplishment stand out even more.
To explain how she achieved this milestone, Cerecerez said she has been sharpening her game for years. “I had to work twice as hard since I have started off young,” said Cerecerez.
Head Coach Jose Morales noted that the honor was not unexpected. “I thought it was a huge accomplishment for Zoeh because Prep1 recognizes the top players in sports,” said Jose Morales, Chapin High School head volleyball coach. “It’s a great recognition for her and for Chapin volleyball.”
Morales also emphasized her leadership on the team. “Zoeh is strong and committed,” said Morales. “She has become another coach on the court and steps up to lead by example.”
Teammates shared similar observations. “I admire the way she brings everyone up on the team,” said Keira Torres, Chapin High School Sophomore.
Looking to the future, Torres believes Cerecerez has the potential to compete at a higher level. “I think she can go to a bigger school and go D1,” said Torres.
Cerecerez agreed that her goals extend beyond high school volleyball. “My future goals are to play college volleyball and be recognized as a good player,” Cerecerez said.
With her record-breaking season and continued dedication, Zoeh Cerecerez has set a new bar for the Chapin volleyball program. Prep1USA’s recognition marks only the beginning of her volleyball journey.
