Announced on May 27, the school will not allow backpacks or bags starting on the last week of school Monday, June 2.
“I don’t understand why they do this I think its annoying,” sophomore Leonardo Navarro said. “I like having my backpack at school so I have everything. ”
Based on the schools instagram post, they are allowing laptop bag, lunch box/bag, or purses 5 by 7 inches.
“At least they are letting us bring some stuff,” Leonardo said.
According to art teacher Ana Valdez, they have been doing this in the past years.
“They actually do this every year,” Ana said. “I like that they do this because it keeps less clutter in class.”
Athletes may make arrangements with coaches to store athletic bags in locker room and pick up after school.
“If my sport was still in season I wouldn’t like this change,” junior Victoria Cuellar said. “It would be a struggle to find somewhere to put my stuff because they don’t open the locker room in the morning.”
Bags will be confiscated and only be available to pick up one Friday, June 6 from 1-4 P.M..
“If students bring any kind of bags we are required to take them,” security guard Willy said. “We are forced to take bags away for people’s safety, and to prevent students doing dumb things on the last week.”
