During the 47th Annual Mimbela North Easter Parade, the football team participated in the parade by handing out candy to the people sitting aside watching the floats and bands.
“It was fun handing out candy to the kids,” Corwon Martin said. “It felt like a good team bonding.”
Towards the end, they ended up running out of candy to give to kids along the parade route. Three of the football players, Corwon, Joel Delgado and Sophomore Jorge Martinez, saw a family asking for candy.
“We felt kind of bad that we ran out of candy to give the kids,” Joel said.
In the spirit, the trio went to go purchase more candy after the parade was over. Once they bought the candy, they left a note and dropped it off on the front porch of the family’s house.
“We just wanted them to feel included and not left out,” Jorge said.
The family later posted a post to show appreciation for the trio’s actions which made it to Fitfam.
“It shows that there is still some good in this world,” commented the family of Jorge, on the post that they are happy for him that he did a good deed.
“Good job son,” Jorge’s dad, Jorge Martinez said. “Way to represent your family and Chapin.”
The head football coach, Marco Chavez, was proud of his team and the actions they took to make a good name on the team.
“It was a proud coach moment,” Chavez said. “I am proud of these guys and the positive impact they’re making in our community.”
