Students struggle to create balance in homework, practice sessions, and social events. This can negatively impact their mental health, leaving them overwhelmed with work.
Freshman Marianna Castro practices after school every day except Sundays and Wednesdays.
“Usually, during breaks in my violin practice,” Mariana said. “I try to study and get some homework done, our breaks are 30 minutes.”
Many students find it difficult to maintain good grades, leading to increased stress. This sometimes causes them to skip assignments entirely.
Sophomore Jason on the soccer team struggles with his grades and often attends tutoring.
“Since I’m on the soccer team, I put all my focus and energy into that sport and don’t really do my homework, which is probably why I’m failing two of my classes,” Jason admits. “But I do try to ask for help during class and attend tutoring when I have time.”
These students are trying to find ways to balance their schedules, even though some of it is taking a toll on them. Talking to these students shows that even if you are busy, you can be available to do your work.
