The new Disney+ movie, Safety, has been touching the hearts of so many viewers and causing so may tears to jerk. This feel-good sports movie is about a football player, Ray-Ray, who was given the opportunity to play college football at Clemson University, one of the best division 1 programs in the nation. Of course, accepting the scholarship, he realized he had to leave his younger brother in his troublesome neighborhood with his mother who had recently started her journey to becoming sober from drugs. When his mother is faced with being put in rehab, Ray-Ray faces the trouble of having to care for his brother all while still attending school and football with the intentions to be a starter. The whole movie is based on how he struggles to balance all his responsibilities out by keeping his brother a secret from his team and caring for him alone. While he continues to do this, he has trouble performing well in school and in football. Eventually he finally gets help by his teammates, coaches and teachers but the NCAA files a complaint against him and decides to fight the NCAA. I asked a couple classmates about their thoughts of the movie and this is what senior Celina Celaya had to say about it, “It was such a good movie, I enjoyed it so much. Sports movies are always my favorite to watch because they always appeal to everyone’s emotions”.  According to the IMDB website, Safety earned 6.8 stars out of 10.  Allison Mata says, “I think this movie should have gotten a so much higher rating but that’s only my opinion, I cried my eyes out this whole movie.” But Samantha Chairez believed otherwise, she said “I personally think it got the perfect rating, or I’m surprised it wasn’t lower. I just felt like the movie was very predictable and like every feel-good sports movie.” This movie is all about the unbreakable bond of two brother and how they face all the obstacles thrown at them and really shows how strong a family bond can be and how anything is possible especially when surrounded with nothing but love and support. So, if you’re looking for a uplifting family movie I would definitely recommend Safety on Disney+.
