Students prepare for STAAR testing

How Students are Preparing for the U.S. History STAAR Test

According to EPISD taking the STAAR test is mandatory for high school students in order for graduation. Students are preparing for this test mainly students who are juniors.

“I’m taking more notes now and overlooking them when I finish class, so it helps me remember what I learned in class that day,” junior Kathya Navarro said.

Students are trying to find new techniques to help them study.

“To help me I’m making index cards to test me with different lessons in history that’s my way of studying for the U.S. history STAAR test,” junior Damian Leal said.

This test is also required to be taken on campus in the month of May. Although you don’t have to take the test in May either way the test is mandatory by EPISD, and if not taken in May student will have to take it next school year.

“What I do to help me study for history is when we take a small quiz and I finish I overlook which ones I got wrong and right,” junior Julissa Arellano said. “I write them as my notes that way I know more or less what I need to study for the STAAR test.”

Students are using different techniques to help them study with this test especially since this school year was different from other years.

“I’m nervous for this test because I know we didn’t really learn the same this year but all I can do is just study and simply try my best and hope for the best,” junior Kathya Navarro said.
