Jermaine Lamarr Cole, better known as J. Cole, was born in Frankfurt, Germany and raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He first started getting recognition in 2007, as a rapper and producer when he released his debut album “The Come Up”.  Since then he has become one of the biggest names of the “new school” era, with the release of four platinum-certified albums. Cole dropped his fourth studio album “4 Your Eyez Only” on December 9, 2016. It serves as a message to Cole’s newborn daughter. One of my favorite songs on the album is “Deja Vu.”  The beat in the song speaks to me and I think the message of the song hits home because it is from the perspective of one of his deceased friends. Another good song is “Immortal”, a positive and upbeat song. I think everyone should have a chance to listen to J. Cole because his music is not like other rappers and there is more than meets the eye.
